A few words from the founder of U.C. Productions:
Hello, hello! My name is Britt Crisp and I am the owner/founder of Underdog Circus Productions. This dream started around the 2023 SAG strikes, when creative work/outlets were scarce amongst the community. Finding myself in yet another creative drought after the pandemic, I decided I'd had enough and it was time to venture out into creating projects of my own. I didn't consider myself much of a writer (I still don't), but I set a goal that I would write ten different short films by the end of the year, pick one, and film it. They could be about anything, just write the damn things... so, I did. I got to about five scripts before I walked face-first into the story for "Kidd". At the time, I was working through some personal hurt, and wrote four silly little pages full off exposition and writing errors. However, I couldn't get the clear images of every moment out of my head, even down to the casting. I decided to send it to my future scene partner, Phillip-Charlie Daniell, who heavily encouraged me to expand the story and turn it into something real.
After expanding, we decided to use an iPhone, some costumes, a blackbox theater and a fake jail out of pipes from Home Depot. Easy and small, nothing fancy. I was running the plan by a friend of mine, Dallas Sterling (cinematographer extraordinaire) when he decided to offer his services instead. Well, damn. Now we're in the big time, so we better treat it accordingly. This led to us finding the fabulous Whitehorse Ranch set in the middle of Landers, California with a rallied group of friends and family all teaming together to make this into something special. We shot the entire project in ONE day, and "Kidd" was born! It was truly magical. Every single person on set was vital, and everyone truly worked together through one of the longest days of our lives to pull a rabbit out of a cowboy hat.
I learned so much, and it became clear to me that this was something I wanted to do over and over again. I've officially been bitten by the filmmaking bug. For now, my official plan is this: To continue to create meaningful stories that deserve to be told alongside my talented friends and fellow underdogs. We have some exciting announcements to make in the near future, so PLEASE stay tuned as they will be posted here as well as on our instagram page: @underdogcircus.
Just Keep Swimming,
Britt Crisp
